One thing that really boils my blood, sets me off, ruffles my feathers is what people THINK art school is. I’m not going to rant about how ACCD owns and how hard we work, but just about how what we DO seems like a party trick. Oh, can you draw a straight line with your other hand on your head, with one foot balancing a bowl of soup? Can you draw my face? Oh, that doesn’t look like me, I’m not that fat and my lips are much plumper than that, you say. Sidenote, asking me to draw you, won’t make me want to draw you more. Just stay still and natural, naturally, which means, you can’t know I’m drawing you until I’m finished. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll let you see the drawing afterwards.
The thing about artwork and artists, is that you can easily tell when effort has been put in, and when it’s total BS. Doesn’t matter if you’re got ideas floating in your head, it’s executing it, well (with or without happy mistakes ;3 ). So yes, I may be making a basic foamcore cube that looks absolutely plain and boring, but look at the zero gaps and seamless lines, the square corners! I put effort into everything. So don’t cheapen my skills to a party trick. *snap snap*
